Easily verify your permit usage with the QEW Verify app and indicate when you are driving in the HOT lane. It’s as simple as the click of a button to provide meaningful data on permit usage. 

Innovative Technology, Proven Accuracy

Using RideFlag’s tool requires no handling of the smartphone by the driver at any time as verification can occur while stationed in the driveway/parking lot or completed using the ad hoc method using the phones voice command to open the app. 

As long as the app is running the background or foreground the app will automatically put you in a trip. You must reverify at the end of the trip. 

No, you must use the app with the permitted vehicle. 

The program takes place on the QEW between Mississauga Road and Brant Street. 

This program is for valid permit holders only. Please use the permitted vehicle with the app to indicate SOV or HOV status when using the QEW HOT lane. 

SOV Permit Holders Lane Use

Single occupant users are able to benefit from the use of the HOT lane with the permit program and utilize the app for permit use observances. 

App and Permit Use Accuracy

Permit holders can track their usage and give data for traffic and usage analysis for betterment of the planning and utilization of the HOT lane. 

Accurate User Reporting

Accurately reports on whether the user indicated they were using the lane as a SOV permit holder, or as an active carpool with 2 or more occupants. 

Program Overview

The project will enable collection and processing of key travel data, including vehicle travel speeds, entry and exit points and overall trip patterns on the QEW Innovation Corridor. 

Program Rules:

  • Trips must be conducted on the QEW between Mississauga Road and Brant Street on the HOT lane
  • If you forget to reverify your trip, the trip will be counted as an SOV trip
  • Permitted vehicle must be used and added into the app
  • Carpools must be 2+ occupancy, including the driver when declaring as a carpool
